Relationship Manager Assistant

About The Role
The Relationship Manager Assistant will provide day-to-day support to the Relationship Managers in managing a mixed portfolio of local and international business, retail and HNWI clients. This role combines administrative support (documentation, processing and reporting) with direct client interaction (handling queries, preparing for meetings, following up on actions) to help deliver a consistently high standard of service and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Manager & Team Support
- Provide proactive administrative support to assigned Relationship Manager(s), including preparation of client packs, meeting materials and follow-up actions.
- Assist with day-to-day portfolio administration including account maintenance, documentation tracking and workflow monitoring.
- Develop, maintain and provide weekly, monthly and quarterly portfolio and activity reports as agreed with the Relationship Managers.
Client Service & Interaction
- Act as a first point of contact for routine client queries (telephone, email and online banking), ensuring all interactions are logged in the CRM system.
- Ensure client enquiries are dealt with in line with the Client Charter, escalating urgent or complex matters promptly to the Relationship Manager.
- Support Relationship Managers in preparing for and attending client meetings (including corporate and wealth clients), drafting call reports and monitoring follow-up actions.
- Build familiarity and confidence in dealing directly with selected clients, with a view to gradually taking on more relationship-facing responsibilities over time.
Onboarding & Documentation
- Assist with the coordination of new account opening and product set-up processes (e.g. loan requests, deposit accounts, online banking), liaising with Operations and other internal teams.
- Collect and update Know Your Customer (KYC) and other client documentation in accordance with AML and compliance policies, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date in the CRM and core banking systems.
- Help ensure that all client documentation is complete, accurate and processed within agreed service levels.
Process, Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Support manual and electronic processing of client transactions as required, working closely with Operations to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure all activities adhere to BCB’s risk, compliance and operational policies.
- Provide feedback to Relationship Managers and the wider team on opportunities to improve processes, client experience and internal ways of working.
Development & Progression
- Build knowledge of BCB’s products and services (lending, deposits, online banking and related solutions) and how they meet client needs.
- Develop an understanding of the fundamentals of relationship management, credit, compliance and risk as preparation for progression into a Trainee Relationship Manager role.
- Take ownership of personal development, participating in training, coaching and on-the-job learning assigned by the Relationship Management leadership team.
Experience, Skills & Attributes
- University degree, preferably in business, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Exposure to client relationship management and portfolio support would be an asset.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing commercial awareness and client‑centric mindset.
- Ability to exercise judgement and escalate appropriately.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across functions.
- Demonstrated interest in progressing into a full Relationship Manager role.
