About The Role
Job Summary: The QA/QC Inspector – Mechanical is responsible for carrying out inspection and quality control activities related to mechanical works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable codes and standards. The role supports project execution by verifying workmanship quality, monitoring inspections and tests, maintaining accurate quality records, and supporting timely resolution of non-conformances across construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Inspection & Testing Perform inspections of mechanical installation works in accordance with approved ITPs, drawings, specifications, and method statements. Inspect installation of mechanical equipment, piping supports, tanks, vessels, pumps, compressors, HVAC/mechanical systems, and related components as applicable to the project scope. Witness and verify mechanical testing activities such as dimensional checks, alignment, torqueing, pressure testing, functional testing, and pre-commissioning checks under supervision. Ensure inspection and test results comply with acceptance criteria and project requirements. Material Inspection & Control Perform material receiving inspections for mechanical materials to verify compliance with approved submittals and specifications. Verify material identification, traceability, tagging, and documentation including Material Test Certificates (MTCs). Monitor storage, handling, and preservation of mechanical materials and equipment to prevent damage or deterioration. Documentation & Reporting Prepare and submit inspection reports, checklists, and test records in line with approved procedures. Assist in preparation, submission, and follow-up of Work Inspection Requests (WIR/RFI). Maintain accurate and traceable quality records and coordinate with Document Control for proper filing and handover. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions Identify and report non-conforming mechanical works or materials to the QA/QC Engineer. Assist in raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and tracking corrective actions until closure. Support re-inspections and verification of corrective actions after rectification. Coordination & Site Support Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and QA/QC teams for inspection scheduling and readiness. Participate in joint inspections with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors as required. Support QA/QC Engineers during audits, inspections, testing, and handover activities. Required Qualifications & Competencies: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline 5–8 years of experience in mechanical inspection or QA/QC roles within construction, industrial, or Oil & Gas projects Strong knowledge of mechanical installation practices, inspection, and testing procedures Familiarity with mechanical drawings, specifications, and ITPs Experience working with WIRs, MIRs, NCRs, and inspection documentation Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality compliance
