SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant, Process & Policy supports a range of high-impact accounting and operational initiatives across Welltower’s growing portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience working cross-functionally with Accounting, Investments, IT, Treasury, and Operations teams on meaningful, enterprise-wide projects. We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to grow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Conversion Readiness & Discovery

Support system conversions with a focus on financial data from discovery through completion, including scope, structure and key conversion dates

Coordinate with internal and external teams to track deliverables, timelines, and documentation. Assist with master data setup and conversion planning to ensure accurate downstream accounting

Mapping & Data Preparation

Prepare and review data mappings and conversion files across multiple systems and Yardi environments

Gather, organize, and assess key financial data, including trial balances, vendor information, accounts receivable details, fixed asset subledger detail, unit counts, and billing data

Review data for completeness, consistency, and flag issues for stakeholder review

Data Validation & Control Execution

  • Perform quality control procedures over financial data, charge schedules, and billing activity
  • Compare converted data source documentation to confirm accuracy and completeness
  • Support review checkpoints to ensure data integrity throughout the conversion lifecycle

Cross-Functional Coordination & Stakeholder Support

  • Collaborate closely with Accounting, Conversion, Legal, Tax, Investments, Treasury, IT, and third parties to resolve questions and maintain alignment across workstreams
  • Participate in conversion meetings, manage open items and communicate status updates, and follow-ups to stakeholders

Process Improvement & Automation

Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring processes, improve data integrity, and enhance the overall conversion experience while maintaining strong financial controls

TRAVEL

Up to 10% travel may be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1 - 3 years of Accounting experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, or related field preferred. Graduate degree is a plus

Strong attention to detail with solid organizational and communication skills

Comfortable working in Excel and learning new systems, experience with Yardi, Smartsheet, or similar tools is a bonus

Professional certification (CPA, PMP) is a plus but not required

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and verification of employment, education, and other credentials relevant to the position.
