About The Role

The Credit Operations Department Head is responsible for strategizing and implementing effective underwriting and loan approval processes for unsecured consumer loan products, specifically credit cards and personal loans. The role ensures compliance with credit parameters and regulatory requirements while balancing customer needs, sustaining business growth, and mitigating undue risks. The Department Head directs overall departmental activities, manages operational performance, and develops people to deliver quality credit decisions within prescribed turnaround times. Responsibilities Strives to be a competent Department Head by keeping abreast with economic and industry trends and their implications on unsecured consumer lending Ensures compliance with internal and regulatory credit policies and cascades these to direct reports Identifies manpower and service quality issues and recommends innovative solutions Formulates and implements new approaches to meet business goals and client credit needs Ensures achievement of Key Results Areas on PDO rates, RAM, TAT, and budget management Conducts effective credit underwriting of applications requiring Senior DLO approval by analyzing information and identifying irregularities or potential fraud Monitors daily turn-ins and manpower to strategize workload distribution and prioritization Reviews credit processes and utilizes MIS data to recommend enhancements in initiation and evaluation procedures Recommends policy changes through Strategic Risk Analytics to align with market trends while ensuring compliance Manages overtime, outsourcing, and bureau inquiries to keep operational costs within budget Directs departmental activities including quality assurance, MIS, training, and other administrative functions Motivates and coaches staff to encourage teamwork and ensure timely delivery of commitments Qualifications Graduate of any four-year management-related course At least five years of experience in credit evaluation and operations Strong analytical skills
