Senior Underwriter

POSITION TITLE: ​SENIOR UNDERWRITER​ REPORTS TO: ​UNDERWRITING TEAM LEADER​ / UNDERWRITING HEAD DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: ​N/A​ UNIT / DEPARTMENT: UNDERWRITING DIVISION/GROUP: ​BUSINESS LENDING OPERATIONS / BUSINESS BANKING SEGMENT​ JOB SUMMARY The Senior Underwriter is responsible for evaluation of credit data and information on borrowers to determine their eligibility and qualification according to established standards and credit parameters. Role involves assessing the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money and making recommendations or approval for qualified loan applications. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews complex and big-ticket sized loan applications, including high risk cases. Makes informed credit decisions within delegated authority limits. Performs other duties and functions that may be assigned by the Team Leader or Unit Head from time to time. Conducts training for new hires and Junior Underwriters on product manuals and process guidelines. Reviews processed applications and monitors trainee performance. Participates in the development and enhancement of credit evaluation methodologies and tools Handles new programs, fast lane applications, and loan approvals. It is accepted and understood that the employee may perform other related tasks which may be assigned from time to time. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Years of Work Experience : 1 - 4 Years Educational Attainment/ Required course ( if applicable ): Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies / Administration/Management, Commerce, Finance/Accountancy/Banking Required Certification/Professional License ( if applicable ): N/A Field of Specialization ( if applicable ): Banking, Credit Card Companies, Financial Technology/Fintech, Leasing/Financing Institutions Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Knowledge in Credit and Underwriting process Analytical skills Effective communication skills Time Management skills: Able to prioritize task and meet agreed service delivery
