About The Role
Position Summary: Installs, services, and repairs the entire range of SSI products including engineered package systems, pneumatic and electronic controls and instrumentation, mechanical pumps, traps, and ancillaries. The role should be able to perform services in all Spirax Sarco portfolio, but will have main focus on Controls Instrumentation The Services Technical Specialist is a critical role within SpiraxSarco Steam Specialties , providing a unique and exciting opportunity to experience the full breadth of the Spirax ‑ Sarco product and solution portfolio while delivering high ‑ value field services focused on steam system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency. This is expected to be able to travel regionally/nationally within the USA 65-70% of the time You must be located near Chicago, IL or Central Valley, CA or Columbia, SC, Houston TX Essential Job Functions Represent the company in the field on projects involving commissioning, startup, warranty repair, troubleshooting and installation of Spirax-Sarco portfolio of products. Provide detailed reports detailing work activities Interact with customers and internal personnel to include customer service, engineering, project management and sales in the execution of service projects. Responsibilities include travel preparation, gathering of tools and other resources, trap testing, hands on product work (field repair), generation of sketches and/or engineering calculations, problem solving, and report generation. Attends training as required for safety and/or industry knowledge Identify improvements to processes and products and communicate back to Spirax-Sarco Other Job Functions Support the execution of Steam Trap Surveys when necessary. Follow the Scheduler’s guidance for planned field activities. Work together with the Scheduler to improve efficiency in field operations. Service mechanical pumps, steam traps, and related ancillaries when necessary. Work on engineered package systems, pneumatic and electronic controls, and instrumentation. Coordinate activities to ensure effective use of time and field resources. Contribute to reliable, efficient, and safe delivery of all field service activities. Manage time effectively to provide needed reporting and documentation from assigned service activities Prioritize and actively seek resolution to scheduling conflicts and backlog consumption Communicate effectively with appropriate personnel needs that arise due to loading and backlog profile Actively communicate with sales when opportunities arise that could lead to additional sales activity Job Specifications Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Vocational or technical degree preferred. Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience Specialized Skills: Must possess and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license with ability to operate a motor vehicle Above average knowledge in MS Office softwares (especially MS Word and MS Excel) Above average knowledge of steam and fluid systems; above average knowledge, controls, or instrumentation products Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form Demonstrates reliability and resilience in frequent-travel roles Certifications : None required Working Conditions: Field Work Percent Travel : >70% Physical Demands* : Sitting: 25%Standing/Walking: 75%Lifting: >25 lbs.
