About The Role

The Contractor Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of external contractors and service providers, ensuring they deliver safe, compliant, high-quality, and cost-effective services. The role involves managing contractor performance, maintaining strong supplier relationships, ensuring contractual compliance, and driving continuous improvements across contractor delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with external contractors across multiple service areas.
  • Monitor contractor performance against agreed KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct regular performance review meetings and implement improvement plans where required.
  • Ensure contractors comply with all health and safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand operational requirements and coordinate contractor activities.
  • Lead contractor onboarding, inductions, and compliance checks.
  • Review contractor documentation, including insurance, certifications, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Resolve contractor performance issues, disputes, and service failures promptly.
  • Support procurement activities including tender evaluations, contract renewals, and supplier selection.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contractor performance, service quality, and value for money.
  • Maintain accurate contractor records, performance reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor contractor expenditure and support budget management.
  • Ensure contractor activities minimise operational disruption while maintaining service standards.
  • Produce regular reports and performance dashboards for senior management.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability across the contractor network.

  • Experience using supplier or contractor management systems.

  • Experience managing third-party contractors or suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of contract management principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience monitoring KPIs and service level agreements.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
