About The Role
Lead commercial delivery on flagship water programmes Purpose and scope of the role: Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery across major long‑term water industry frameworks in the North West. You will manage cost control, procurement and contractual matters for multi‑million pound capital projects from optioneering through to construction, working closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing estimates, negotiating contracts, certifying payments and managing claims and variations, while contributing to contracting strategy and commercial governance across programme interfaces. Your impact in this position: You will immediately strengthen commercial oversight and improve clarity of project cost positions. Over the medium term, you will lead sourcing and procurement for significant lots, drive cost‑saving initiatives and resolve complex contractual issues. Core capabilities: Commercial estimation - Prepare detailed cost plans, resource and material schedules, and provide robust input to bids and feasibility studies. Procurement contracting - Lead procurement processes, develop tender packs, evaluate bids, negotiate terms and support contract award and mobilisation. Contract administration claims management - Manage progress payments, variations, claims and dispute resolution, ensuring compliant records and approvals. Cost control financial reporting - Monitor expenditure, forecast costs, implement cost‑saving measures and maintain accurate financial reporting for projects and suppliers. Stakeholder engagement leadership - Communicate commercial positions clearly to clients and project teams, mentor junior staff and promote knowledge capture and innovation. Skills, qualifications and experience: Expected: bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a valid driving licence. Desirable: chartership or working towards it (ICS or similar) and formal commercial or procurement training. Work patterns locations : Hybrid role with regular office presence in the North West (typical 2–3 days per week) and site visits as required.
