About The Role
Job Tile: Estimator – Plant Improvement Projects (PIP) & Spares SBU: Services Department: Sales & marketing (PIP & Spares) Experience: 5–12 years in EPC / Boiler Estimation Experience in AFBC Boilers, CFBC Boilers, Pulverized Coal Boilers, Waste Heat Recovery Boilers, Waste-to-Energy Boilers, Industrial Utility Boilers will be preferred. Job Purpose To prepare accurate, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimates for PIP, boiler revamp projects, replacement parts, pressure parts, and aftermarket service opportunities. The role requires close coordination with sales, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, to develop estimate within committed turnaround times while ensuring profitability and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities 1. Cost Estimation Prepare detailed cost estimates for Boiler PIP & Revamp Projects, replacement-in-Kind (RIK), Boiler Spares, Bought-out Items, Boiler Auxiliaries, Retrofits & Upgrades Develop cost sheets considering material, manufacturing, bought-outs, labour, engineering, logistics, testing, and commissioning. 2. Vendor & Procurement Coordination Obtain quotations from approved suppliers. Compare vendor offers technically and commercially. Recommend optimum sourcing strategy. Maintain updated cost database for standard items. 3. Cost Optimization Identify opportunities for Value Engineering, Alternate materials, Manufacturing optimization, Cost reduction initiatives Improve proposal competitiveness without compromising quality. 4. Cross Functional Coordination Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Project, Management, Site Execution for preparation of accurate estimates. 5. Risk Assessment Identify commercial and technical risks. Highlight assumptions and exclusions. Ensure estimates comply with customer specifications and company standards. 6. Documentation Maintain estimation database. Update historical project costs. Standardize costing templates. Archive estimation documents for future reference. 7. Turnaround Time (TAT) Deliver estimates within committed timelines. Prioritize enquiries based on business criticality. Support urgent bids during peak workload. 8. Continuous Improvement Develop standard costing models. Improve estimation accuracy through lessons learned. Participate in post-order cost variance analysis. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering Diploma holders with significant boiler estimation experience may also be considered.
