Postdoctoral Fellow-Sea Ice Biogeochemistry and Earth System Modeling

The successful candidate will join the Environmental Biogeochemistry Modeling Group led by Dr. Yanxu Zhang and will contribute to research investigating the role of sea ice in linking the atmosphere, ocean, and cryosphere in the global mercury cycle. Sea ice is a dynamic component of the polar Earth system that plays an important role in the cycling and exchange of mercury through atmospheric deposition, photochemical transformation, and seasonal melting processes. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct independent and collaborative research on sea-ice mercury cycling, with a focus on process-based modeling and integration with oceanic and atmospheric components of Earth system models. The position provides opportunities to develop research independence, publish in leading scientific journals, participate in interdisciplinary collaborations, and contribute to proposal development for major funding agencies.
