About The Role

The Director of Facilities & Event Management reports directly to Associate Athletic Director, Facilities and Event Management. Assists with the day-to-day management of all aspects of facilities maintenance activities, including facility repairs, renovations and scheduling. Serves as primary point for all assigned sporting events and facilities operations. Assists in the coordination of athletic facility usage for home intercollegiate athletic events and departmental rental events, including but not limited to scheduling staff and coordinating post-event clean up. Assists, as needed with the management of event activities and game operations for home intercollegiate athletics events and department rental events with duties encompassing both facilities and game operations responsibilities. Assists as a liaison to facilities services and the janitorial services contractor providing supervisory responsibilities and fiscal oversight related to their services in support of Athletic Department events and facilities. Assists with the planning and execution of ongoing and future Athletic Department capital projects.

Event/Facility Management/Operations (40%) Acts as lead operational contact for Tulane Baseball & Greer Field at Turchin Stadium event & facility operations Serves as secondary game/event manager for Tulane Football home intercollegiate contests & supports in critical role related to the successful execution of home Football gamedays Performs daily, routine facility checks of assigned venue(s) and reports/dispatches issues appropriately Proposes, collaborates & implements new facility enhancements & other aesthetic upgrades Serves as direct point-of-contact for Facilities Services, TUPD, custodial contractor, event staffing contractor, parking management contractor, etc. on daily and event basis Personnel Supervision (30%) Directly supervises Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Management and Facilities & Grounds Coordinator Provides clear direction & feedback to staff and troubleshoots issues, as needed Provides support & guidance to staff to establish positive work environment & professional growth opportunities Conducts annual performance reviews to review and set goals Financial (10%) Supports the Associate Athletic Director of Facilities & Event Management with departmental budget tracking Ensures fiscal responsibility by ensuring approved processes are followed for purchasing & reconciliation Tracks work orders/tickets and invoices to ensure prompt payments are issued Capital Projects/Enhancements (10%) Supports the Associate Athletic Director of Facilities & Event Management with assigned capital projects/enhancements Works with campus colleagues, architects, engineers, contractors, etc. to ensure renovations and construction meet desired outlook Ensures proper protocols are followed before/during/after all projects NCAA Compliance (5%) Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulation Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department's efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary Reports potential rules violations immediately Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations Other Duties (5%) Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director, Facilities & Event Management.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in sport administration or related field Minimum of 3 years of facility management or event management experience, preferably in a university intercollegiate athletic department; graduate assistantship experience may be considered Minimum 3 years of experience in the supervision of facilities and event management staff positions Current certifications in CPR and First Aid Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies: Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill and ability to relate to diverse user groups Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with colleagues Extremely organized, self-starter, intrinsically motivated Strong organizational, management and leadership skills Proven ability to multi-task effectively Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and desktop publishing Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American Conference rules and regulations
