About The Role
Tulane University School of Law invites applications for the Assistant Director, Academic Advising for Student Affairs. The position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities; assisting with counseling students on academic matters; assisting with the law school’s various orientation programs; and assisting the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs on matters related to student activities and academic policy.
Strong student counseling and advising skills Understanding and familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and particularly section 504 of that Act Ability to develop, plan, assess, and successfully implement student programs Excellent verbal and communication skills Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to students, staff, and faculty Strong judgment and excellent problem-solving skills Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications (Word and Excel). Ability to devlan, assess, and successfully implement student programs Basic understanding of administrative and academic issues in higher education Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work-related matters
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of academic advising or other substantive student affairs work or transferable experience. OR Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered Preferred Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree 3 years of higher education student program development, student counseling, or other substantive student affairs experience in higher education
