Supervisor Name: Assia Crawford Email address: Position Title: Teaching Assistant Course Title: Design Media II Number of Positions Available: 6 Application Deadline: Aug 10, 2026 Position Description: Design Media II introduces students to computational, AI-assisted, and digitally mediated methods of architectural design, fabrication, and representation. This year, the course will focus on tool building with AI, Grasshopper workflows, and digital visualization. Through workshop-style modules and design exercises, students will develop technical skills while considering how emerging digital tools shape architectural thinking, making, and communication. The course will move across analog, digital, physical, and virtual media, with attention to 2D and 3D computational techniques, parametric design, digital fabrication, AI-supported workflows, and visual representation. The emphasis is on using these tools critically and productively within the architectural design process. Research Assistants will support the course by attending class in person, assisting students during workshops, offering verbal and written feedback, troubleshooting technical issues, helping with AI, Grasshopper, and visualization workflows, taking attendance, and supporting general class organization. Research Assistants must be available during the scheduled class time. The course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–4:45 PM. Expected Duties: Key requirements: - Previously having taken DM-2 or being exempt from that requirement - Ability to dedicate the allotted time during the week (not to be overburdened by other commitments) - Attend class during class time - Offer high-quality feedback in verbal and written form - Communicate with students and address queries. - Be available for student surgery sessions outside of class time. - Take initiative to become familiar with tools so as to support students effectively - Take attendance. - Positive attitude - Good communication skills Proposed Schedule: Tuesday/Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:45pm Position location: In-person/On-campus (Uptown) Application Materials: Resume Work Sample/Portfolio Other Qualifications : Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University A Federal Work Study Award (potentially) Prior or active enrollment in a particular class or course of study (potentially) A required grade in a prior class or coursework (potentially)
