About The Role

*This position is open until filled and may close at any time* Correctional Health Services is hiring for an Occupational Therapy Assistant. This is a paraprofessional, working level job supervised by professional Occupational Therapy staff. Incumbents in this job are assigned client assessments and treatment plans and administer appropriate treatment to clients. Incumbents may conduct individual sessions, therapy groups, and contribute to OT program administration. Job Duties Must possess certification by the American Occupational Therapy Licensure from the Utah Occupational Therapy License Board. Evaluates patients' needs and administers therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as, behavioral management skills, social skills, distress tolerance, medication adherence, sensory self-regulation and activities of daily living. Coordinates program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc. Performs occupational assessments of patients and/or residents; refers patients requiring further evaluation or treatment to a registered nurse, nurse practitioner,therapist, physician, psychiatrists or other health care professional. Develops and implements treatment plans to help clients mobilize inner capacities and resources to improve social functioning. Documents client/patient progress and revises treatment plans as required; completes administrative paperwork. Supplemental Information An offer of employment will be contingent on the applicant successfully passing a DHHS background check, pre-employment drug testing, and a Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) background screening. Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
