Journey Maintenance Specialist (Capitol Complex)

This is a journey level job. Incumbents perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance/construction duties requiring independent ability to organize and complete maintenance or construction projects, including technical consultation and limited design work, materials and cost estimates, plus compliance with applicable codes. A Journey Maintenance Specialist may: Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, make adjustments, repairs and/or perform preventative maintenance on computers, vehicles, equipment, or machinery, etc. Provide technical consultation to originators of project job orders, including development of project plans and related estimates. Build, fabricate, or repair structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings. Weld, solder, braze, grind, and/or fabricate various materials. Paint, finish and refinish wood, metal and other materials. Performs general facility maintenance including painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, as well as general cleaning and sanitation. Performs related plumbing, mechanical, painting and pipe fitting, etc., duties.
