Technical Assistant - TSD ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date December 2025 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box) GB BMM Job Grade D2 (Paterson) / M6 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT The Technical Services Department (TSD) plays a critical role in enabling safe, efficient and value optimised mining at Vedanta Zinc International (VZI). TSD integrates multiple technical disciplines: • Mine Planning – short, medium and long term mine design and scheduling • Geology – resource understanding, grade control and orebody interpretation • Survey – spatial control, mine plans, volumetrics and statutory compliance • Rock Engineering – ground stability, excavation support, geotechnical risk control These disciplines require reliable technical, administrative and analytical support to ensure data, documentation, reporting and operational integration run smoothly. The Technical Assistant (D2) provides cross disciplinary technical and coordination support to the Mineral Resources Manager and TSD leadership. The role is essential for ensuring governance, planning execution, data quality, field activities, and reporting cycles are maintained to a high standard. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To provide technical, analytical and administrative support to the Mineral Resources Manager and the broader TSD team, ensuring efficient coordination of technical workflows, data management, reporting, governance and operational support across Mine Planning, Geology, Survey and Rock Engineering. The role ensures: • Efficient management of TSD documentation, workflows and systems • High quality technical data capture and reporting • Coordination of cross functional technical interfaces • Field support, technical support and project assistance • Strong compliance with governance, safety and technical standards RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Technical Coordination & Support · Assist TSD disciplines (Planning, Geology, Survey, Rock Engineering) with day-to-day technical tasks. · Coordinate technical inputs and consolidate information for reporting to the Mineral Resources Manager. · Support TSD project work, design reviews, data preparation and technical documentation. · Assist in preparation of maps, drawings, plans, cross sections, and technical packs as directed. 2. Data Management & Reporting · Capture, validate and organise technical data across TSD functions. · Support development of dashboards, KPIs, planning packs and reports. · Track data submissions from Planning, Geology, Survey and Rock Engineering. · Maintain TSD document libraries, spatial information repositories and reporting templates. 3. Governance, Compliance & Audit Support · Ensure compliance with document control, policies, SOPs and governance requirements. · Assist with preparing evidence for audits, technical reviews and statutory inspections. · Maintain version control of plans, standards, procedures and technical files. · Ensure accurate record keeping for MHSA, survey, planning and geological documentation. 4. Cross Functional Communication & TSD Workflow Support · Coordinate technical meetings, schedule reviews and compile action item registers. · Facilitate information flow between TSD, Mining, Engineering, HSE and Plant. · Support the Mineral Resources Manager with meeting preparation, pack consolidation and presentation materials. 5. Project, Planning & Technical Task Assistance · Support medium term planning, resource modelling, survey updates and design preparation where required. · Assist geologists with sampling data sheets, structural information and database updates. · Support survey tasks such as data capture, plotting, draughting and map maintenance (under supervision). · Support rock engineering data capture, monitoring logs or field data organisation. 6. System & Software Support · Assist with maintaining technical software platforms (Deswik, Datamine, GIS, Leapfrog, survey systems). · Ensure data files are organised, backed up and accessible to the TSD team. · Support training and onboarding of TSD systems for new employees. 7. Business Partner Coordination · Coordinate technical documentation and compliance for TSD business partners (drilling, scanning, laboratory, modelling services). · Track deliverables, performance documents and technical submissions. · Escalate issues to the Mineral Resources Manager or technical leads. 8. Safety, Risk & Compliance · Support TSD safety initiatives, documentation and compliance. · Assist in creating TSD risk registers, hazard logs and safety files. · Conduct VFLs, field walk downs, PTOs and contribute to risk assessments (IBRA/HIRA). · Follow all TSD and operational safety protocols in underground and open pit environments. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · National Diploma / BTech / BSc in Mining, Geology, Survey, Rock Engineering, Technical Management or related field. · Additional technical training (GIS, CAD, planning software) advantageous. Experience · 3–5 years relevant experience in mining technical services (Planning, Geology, Survey or Rock Engineering). · Experience supporting technical teams and handling technical data. · Exposure to mine planning, mapping, GIS, geotechnical or geological workflows advantageous. Technical Competence · Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). · Ability to read and understand mine plans, sections, geological maps and technical drawings. · Basic proficiency in mining software (Deswik, Datamine, AutoCAD, GIS, Leapfrog, survey systems). · Strong data management, reporting and document control capability. · Good analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
