Production Geologist ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date December 2025 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box) GB BMM Job Grade D2 (Paterson) / M6 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two major mining environments: · Gamsberg (Open Pit) : Requires strong bench mapping, ore ‑ waste delineation, grade control drilling, structural interpretation and real ‑ time geological support to mining. · Black Mountain Mine (BMM) : Includes Deeps & Swartberg underground orebodies and Swartberg open pit, requiring advanced face mapping, stope design input, ore drive interpretation and underground geological hazard identification. The Production Geologist (D2) is essential to daily orebody understanding, grade control accuracy and geological support to mining operations. This role ensures that ore is correctly identified, sampled, routed and reconciled to deliver maximum value and minimise dilution and ore loss. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To provide accurate daily geological interpretation, mapping, sampling and grade ‑ control support to ensure correct ore identification, efficient extraction and reliable geological information for short ‑ term mine planning and production. The role ensures: · Accurate delineation of ore and waste boundaries · High ‑ quality geological mapping and structural interpretation · Daily support to Operations during excavation, development and stope preparation · Robust sampling QA/QC and data accuracy · Timely geological input to production planning, blasting and ore routing · Contribution to reconciliation and continuous improvement RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Geological Mapping & Orebody Interpretation · Conduct bench mapping (open pit) or face mapping (underground) to update geological models. · Identify lithology, mineralisation, structural controls and ground conditions. · Advise supervisors on ore ‑ waste boundaries and geological hazards. · Update digital maps and structural models with daily data. 2. Grade Control & Ore Delineation · Supervise grade ‑ control drilling, logging, sampling and QA/QC. · Interpret grade ‑ control results to define ore blocks and boundaries. · Provide clear ore polygons, loading instructions and dig limits to Operations. · Reduce dilution and ore loss through accurate geological guidance. 3. Sampling Governance & Laboratory Interface · Ensure correct sampling techniques (chips, channels, RC, core samples) and sample ‑ handling protocols. · Monitor QA/QC programs: blanks, standards, duplicates and sample security. · Liaise with laboratory business partners on assay quality, turnaround and data inconsistencies. 4. Operational Support & Decision Making · Provide real ‑ time geological support during drilling, blasting, loading and hauling activities, as well as for underground mine development, stoping and other operations. · Participate in pre ‑ blast meetings and verify geological inputs to blast designs. · Identify geological risks that may impact safety or production. · Advise on ore routing, blending and stockpile quality. 5. Data Management & Geological Records · Maintain accurate logging, mapping, sampling and assay datasets. · Update geological databases daily and assist with digital geological systems. · Ensure traceability and integrity of all geological information. 6. Reconciliation & Improvement · Support monthly reconciliation of model vs mined grades, tonnes and metal. · Investigate variances and propose improvements to grade ‑ control practices. · Assist in refining orebody models and geological interpretations based on production results. 7. Engagement with Business Partners · Provide technical oversight and feedback to drilling, sampling and laboratory business partners. · Ensure their activities meet safety, quality and geological requirements. · Record and escalate deviations in performance. 8. Safety, Legal Compliance & Risk Management · Ensure all geological and field activities comply with MHSA, Zero Harm and SOP requirements. · Promote safe sampling, mapping, underground visits, pit ‑ floor inspections and field movement. · Conduct VFLs, field walk ‑ downs, PTOs and risk assessments (IBRA/HIRA). · Identify and report geotechnical and geological hazards (ground instability, water, voids). QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · BSc / BSc (Hons) in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering. · SACNASP registration (Pr.Sci.Nat) or eligibility preferred. Experience · 3–5 years’ experience as a Mine / Production Geologist in open ‑ pit or underground mining. · Experience in grade control, mapping, sampling and logging. · Exposure to reconciliation, geological modelling and QA/QC processes. · Familiarity with drilling supervision and laboratory processes. Technical Competence · Proficiency in geological mapping and orebody interpretation. · Strong understanding of grade ‑ control processes and sampling QA/QC. · Knowledge of geostatistics and basic resource geology principles. · Working knowledge of geological software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik, Micromine, ArcGIS). · Ability to analyse geological data and communicate insights to Operations.
