About The Role
Performs sonographic imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs radiographic images, if certified.
Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Performs medical and echo/vascular imaging services according to policy and procedure and as directed by a physician to demonstrate structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic interpretation. Prepares and positions patient to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort. If certified, properly determines exposure techniques and factors for radiography. Performs imaging examinations and DICOM procedures using appropriate protocols established by the medical director. Determines ultrasound frequencies and appropriate transducers for the anatomic area of interest. Ensures that all requested examinations are completed prior to releasing the patient. Completes reporting according to CVIS (Cardiovascular Information Management System) and PACS (picture archiving and communication system) workflow. Maintains quality control and quality assurance. Corroborates and documents patient's clinical history with the procedure. Evaluates images for technical quality; assuring proper patient identification, positioning, and all required documentation is recorded. Participates in quality assessments and improvement plans. Maintains all equipment in proper working order and reports any malfunction. Communicates patient health care needs to the appropriate health care provider. Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient care records per policy and standard procedures. Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate healthcare provider according to guidelines. Participates in team conferences and/or care coordination activities.
Education: Required: Vocational/Technical Diploma-Graduate of an accredited ultrasound training program Preferred: Vocational/Technical Diploma-Graduate from an AMA Radiologic Technology program Experience: Required: None Preferred: 1 (one) year of ultrasound experience
