About The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with client interactions and business development support: participate in calls, help clarify study objectives, and contribute to proposal preparation and study scopes under senior guidance.
- Support study planning and execution: help draft protocols, prepare study materials, run and troubleshoot in vitro assays, collect and manage data, and ensure accurate documentation and data integrity.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary program coordination: work with in vitro, in vivo, chemistry, and DMPK/toxicology colleagues to help integrate study activities and timelines; escalate risks and propose practical solutions to seniors.
- Perform hands-on laboratory work: execute cellular and molecular biology and in vitro pharmacology assays (e.g., ELISA, Western blot, immunostaining/confocal imaging, calcium imaging, MEA); conduct electrophysiological experiments with a core focus on neural circuit research; perform mouse dissection and isolation & culture of various primary cells (neurons, cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, macrophages, etc.); maintain iPSC-derived neuron cultures, and strictly follow EH&S procedures and lab SOPs.
- Support data analysis and reporting: analyze results using GraphPad Prism, R, or Python (basic proficiency), prepare figures and draft sections of study reports, and contribute to presentations and internal scientific communications.
- Assist with platform development and vendor work: help run experiments for internal R&D, evaluate external vendor data, and maintain lab inventory and equipment; learn to assess methods and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development: receive mentoring from senior scientists, contribute ideas, document learnings, and help maintain quality and compliance in experiments and recordkeeping.
Qualifications
- MS or PhD (or equivalent) in neuroscience, cell/molecular biology, pharmacology, or a related discipline. Recent graduates with relevant thesis/project experience are encouraged to apply.
- 0–3 years of hands-on research experience in neuroscience or related biological research, ideally including exposure to in vitro assays and cell culture.
- Practical experience with common lab techniques such as cell culture (primary neurons, cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, macrophages and iPSC-derived neuronal systems), ELISA, Western blot, immunostaining, basic microscopy/confocal imaging, calcium imaging, MEA, and electrophysiology with a key focus on neural circuit research is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis tools (GraphPad Prism; familiarity with R or Python a plus) and good recordkeeping practices.
- Strong scientific curiosity, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to follow protocols and learn new techniques quickly.
- Good communication skills in English; Chinese language skills are a plus but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, take direction, and progressively assume greater responsibility.
