Position Title: Student Activities Director
Department: Student Affairs
Reports To: Dean of Student Services / VP of Student Affairs
Position Summary
The Student Activities Director is responsible for creating a vibrant, engaging, and inclusive campus experience that supports student development, retention, and belonging. This role leads the planning, coordination, and execution of co-curricular programs, student organizations, campus events, and leadership initiatives that align with the University’s mission and enhance the overall student experience.
This is not just about events. This is about culture.
Key Responsibilities
Campus Engagement & Programming
- Develop and execute a comprehensive calendar of student activities that drive engagement, school spirit, and community
- Plan signature campus events (Homecoming, Greek life programming, cultural events, student showcases, etc.)
- Ensure programming reflects the diverse interests and backgrounds of the student body
Student Organizations & Leadership
- Oversee all registered student organizations, including onboarding, compliance, and training
- Advise student leaders and provide guidance on event planning, budgeting, and organizational development
- Develop leadership programs and workshops to strengthen student leadership capacity
Culture & Belonging
- Create initiatives that foster inclusion, connection, and a strong sense of belonging
- Partner with Enrollment, Athletics, and Academic Affairs to enhance the student experience
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader on campus, building relationships with students
Operations & Compliance
- Manage the student activities budget and ensure responsible allocation of funds
- Ensure all events comply with university policies, risk management standards, and safety protocols
- Oversee event logistics including space reservations, contracts, and vendor coordination
Assessment & Strategy
- Track participation, engagement trends, and program effectiveness
- Use data and student feedback to continuously improve programming
- Align activities with retention and student success goals

## Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field)
- 3–5+ years of experience in student activities, campus programming, or student affairs
- Demonstrated ability to plan large-scale events and manage multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience working with diverse student populations, preferably in an HBCU environment
