## Description
**Objective**
To assist in instructing students and support the lead teacher.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

  • Assist with instruction of differentiated individual and small group lessons utilizing a variety of methods and techniques to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade student assignments.
  • Manage student behavior appropriately. Effectively implement classroom management techniques.
  • Engage students in the learning process and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Prepare instructional materials such as lesson materials, bulletin boards, exhibits, and equipment.
  • Confer with the lead teacher on the progress of students.
  • Assist in the coordination of classroom related activities and events that support the grade-level or subject specific curriculum.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of each student’s performance and progress.
  • Perform supervisory duties such as lunch, recess, co-curricular, and carpool duties.

This job operates in a professional school environment.

**Position Type**

This is a full-time, ten-month position with responsibilities from August – May. Expected hours of work are 7:15 am - 2:45 pm. As with any independent school, teaching assistants should be ready to chaperone class trips and engage fully in all school events that develop the student.

## Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with students is required.
  • Knowledge of grade-level appropriate teaching methodology.
  • Experience with Responsive Classroom preferred.
  • Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
  • Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents/guardians.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
