## Description
## Position Summary
Viking Group is seeking an experienced **Toolmaker** to join our Tool Room team. This role is responsible for building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, fixtures, jigs, molds, and production equipment that support our manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled machinist with experience reading complex blueprints, operating manual and CNC tool room equipment, and producing precision components with tight tolerances. This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
## Responsibilities
- Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling including:
- Dies
- Jigs
- Fixtures
- Molds
- Mechanisms
- Production tooling
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining methods and sequence of operations.
- Plan layouts and perform precision machining, fitting, assembly, and bench work.
- Perform complex machining operations requiring advanced setups and creative problem solving.
- Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC tool room equipment.
- Set up and operate surface grinders to achieve precise finishes and dimensional accuracy.
- Install, modify, and troubleshoot tooling in production equipment during trial runs.
- Assemble tooling and mechanical components while verifying dimensions, alignments, and functionality.
- Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Mark, measure, and lay out material for machining operations.
- Test completed tooling and mechanisms to verify proper operation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
## Qualifications
### Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a recognized Tool & Die or Toolmaker apprenticeship **plus four (4) years of Toolmaker experience**, **OR**
- Eight (8) years of progressive Toolmaker experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience operating manual machine tools and CNC tool room equipment.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and maintaining tight tolerances.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building and repairing production dies, fixtures, and tooling.
- Surface grinding experience.
- CNC programming or editing experience.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
