About The Role
## Description
The**Dolphins Head Coach**is responsible for the safe and effective coaching of part-time swim team coaches and overseeing a swim team of 100+ members. This role includes scheduling and supervising swim team coaches as well as coordinating swim meets. The Head Coach must attend swim team conference meetings and meets to ensure the program's success. This position requires the ability to work independently with strong initiative, and the working hours primarily include afternoons, evenings, and select weekends.
**Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:**
- Create age-appropriate and skill-level-specific training plans for all swimmers, designing short- and long-term goals.
- Incorporate drills, technique work, and endurance training.
- Lead daily swim practices, focusing on stroke technique, starts, turns, and overall conditioning, giving feedback to swimmers and coaches when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of swimmer progress, attendance, and performance.
- Manage and oversee swim team staff.
- Coordinate team logistics, such as practice schedules, meets, and travel plans ensuring that all practices and meets comply with safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Communicate with swimmers and their families regarding team activities, expectations, and performance updates.
- Develop meet strategies and assign swimmers to events based on their abilities.
- Prepare the team for competitions, including mental preparation and warm-ups.
- Attend swim meets and provide coaching and feedback during events.
- Maintain positive relationships with current swimmers and parents to ensure retention.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging team environment.
- Maintain a safe pool environment which will include knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and action plans.
- Attend mandatory in-service trainings; district-wide part-time staff orientations and crisis trainings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Job Qualifications:**
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have four (4) years of experience in coaching and/or swimming.
- USA Certified Coach required or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must have basic knowledge of Hytek Meet Manager, Team Manager, Team Unify, RecTrac and other software systems or the ability to learn.
- Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to organize and promote swim team programs effectively.
- First Aid/CPR/AED required within 90 days of hire.
**Work Environment:**
The position requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing; flexibility in work schedule which includes days, nights, and weekends; is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions which may include varying weather conditions, and is subject to chlorinated water.
