**Position Summary:**

The Journeyman Mechanic (B Tech) is responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. This position requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to address and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. The Journeyman Mechanic will work independently or as part of a team, following industry standards and ensuring quality service delivery.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Diagnosis & Repair:**
  • Perform detailed diagnostics on vehicles or machinery to identify issues with mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and other essential components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
  • **Maintenance:**
  • Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles or equipment, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and other services.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • **Safety & Compliance:**
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure the safe operation of equipment and the safety of coworkers and customers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • **Documentation & Reporting:**
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and hours worked for each job.
  • Provide detailed reports of repairs and inspections for management or customers, as needed.
  • **Teamwork & Collaboration:**
  • Work closely with other mechanics and technicians to ensure the timely completion of projects and effective problem-solving.
  • Assist in training and mentoring apprentices or junior mechanics as needed.

## Qualifications
**Qualifications:**

  • **Education & Experience:**
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited automotive or diesel technology program preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic, with a demonstrated ability to perform repairs on a variety of vehicle types or machinery.
  • Certification as a Journeyman Mechanic or completion of an apprenticeship program (required).
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or similar credentials preferred but not required.
  • **Technical Skills:**
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including engine performance, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and heating/cooling systems.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • **Physical Requirements:**
  • Ability to lift heavy components and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
