**What are we looking for in a Cook?**

The main responsibility of a Cook is to plan and prepare nutritional meals for residents of the assigned inpatient facility. Cooks oversee the daily operation of the kitchen, including placing orders, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and following all food safety guidelines. This position is best suited to someone who is highly organized, able to work independently, and has previous kitchen experience. This position is at our Waypoint location.

**This is a temporary role expected to last through August.**

**Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10am to 6:30pm**

**Cook duties may include:**

• planning, preparing, & serving well-balanced meals for clients
• coordinating with a dietary consultant on a regular basis to ensure clients’ nutritional needs are being met
• cleaning and organizing kitchen area and all kitchen equipment, including requesting repairs or replacement as needed
• strictly following all food safety rules to prevent cross-contamination and food-borne illness
• preparing menus and ordering food & supplies
• completing all required documentation regarding recipes, menus, food orders, meals served, special diets, etc.
• coaching other staff on food preparation and work safety, as appropriate

**Qualifications:**

• High school diploma or GED
• Six months of related kitchen and cooking experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must have or be able to obtain Food Handler's permit
• Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
• In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check. It is the policy of Comprehensive Healthcare to ensure that employees are provided the equipment necessary to protect their health from respiratory disease in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Respirators, training, and medical evaluations are provided at no cost to the employee during normal working hours. The medical evaluation will determine the employee’s ability to use a respirator and is required prior to completing fit testing of the respirator. Fit testing will be performed using the same make, model, style, and size of respirator that will be used by the employee when at work. A respirator is designed to achieve a very close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles. The edges of the respirator are designed to form a seal around the nose and mouth. To achieve this, employees must (a) arrive for fit testing clean shaven around the sealing surface of the mask; (s) have nothing to eat or drink other than plain water for 20 minutes prior to the appointment; and (3) have not smoked, vaped, or chewed gum for 20 minutes prior to the appointment.
