## Description
**Position Summary:**
Person in this position will provide classroom educational lessons to students aged 5-17 as part of the WestCare Texas Summer Extravaganza youth development program.
**Essential Job Functions:**

  • Prepare and implement approved daily lesson plans for five weeks of classroom education four days per week with one field trip per week;
  • Work in collaboration with Program Director, Program Coordinator, and other WestCare staff to execute the educational training supported through the Summer Extravaganza youth development program;
  • Track attendance of youth participants, Junior Counselor, Camp Assistant, and Public Ally, or staff (maintaining documentation of each class/classroom on any given day);
  • Complete support documentation including but not limited to daily classroom activities, guest speakers/partners. All documentation will be emailed to Program Director at the end of every day;
  • Maintain classroom decorum and appropriately refer problems to the Program Director and / or appropriate WestCare staff;
  • Assist in supervision of youth during transportation and participation in designated field trips. Can NOT leave children unsupervised, must ensure another teacher or staff is providing supervision if the need to step away arises;
  • Provide daily mentoring / coaching of Junior Counselors assigned to each class;
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, and goals of WestCare Foundation;
  • Assist with other educational and youth supervision duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
**Essential Qualifications:**
**Education:**

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of college-level education is preferred.
  • Texas teacher certification is preferred.

**Experience and Competencies:**

  • Two (2) years of experience in providing education to youth in a summer school setting.
  • Bilingual is preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
