**Location:** Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School, Memphis, TN

**Salary Range:** $13.00 – $16.00 per hour

**Employment Type:** Full-Time, 10-month

#### **Position Summary:**

Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School is hiring a caring and dependable **Head Start Teacher Assistant** to support our Lead Teachers in the implementation of a high-quality early learning experience. The Teacher Assistant will play a vital role in promoting the development and well-being of our youngest scholars by helping create a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.

#### **Key Responsibilities:**

• Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities that promote child development.
• Assist in managing classroom routines, transitions, and behavior expectations.
• Foster positive interactions with children to support social-emotional learning.
• Help supervise indoor and outdoor play, ensuring children's safety at all times.
• Assist with setting up learning materials and maintaining an orderly classroom.
• Attend team meetings and participate in required training and professional development.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all Head Start and school policies.

## Qualifications
#### **Qualifications:**

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or willingness to obtain is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Passion for early childhood education and working with diverse populations.
