**Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron)**

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a skilled **Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron)** to join our team supporting our North Carolina landfill operations. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment.

The position will split time between

• **Shotwell Landfill – Knightdale, NC**
• **Tri-Corners Landfill – Liberty, NC**

• **Key Responsibilities**

• Perform repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
• Identify issues and complete or recommend appropriate repair solutions to ensure equipment reliability
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations

• **Working Conditions & Physical Requirements**

• Perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to **100 lbs**
• Work in an outdoor environment with exposure to weather, equipment hazards, and landfill conditions
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods

## Qualifications
**Qualifications**

To successfully perform this role, candidates must meet the following requirements

**Experience & Education**

• Minimum **2+ years of experience** as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of heavy equipment systems and maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

**Certifications (Preferred)**

• **ASE Diesel Certification** or equivalent technical certification
