## Description

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY**

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Component Production (Assistant Manager), the Supervisor of Production/Compliance (Supervisor) ensures regulatory compliance, quality assurance of equipment and process validations, quality control, procedures, and maintenance. This position provides supervision and coordination of production staff and assists in all aspects of manufacturing functions. Under minimal supervision, the position is responsible for the validation of equipment, production processes and products, overseeing daily operations, and directly supervising the Production Coordinators and Component Production Technicians. This includes addressing and/or solving personnel, procedural, or behavioral problems and providing verbal/written reports to management, with efficiency and discretion.

This position requires technical skills to develop, perform, and submit accurate validation plans and data, the ability to identify problems and make sound judgments of overall component production and quality, with the strictest adherence to regulations set forth by but not limited to FDA, AABB, EU, OSHA, and CLIA. The Supervisor mentors, develops and holds staff accountable to Carter BloodCare (CBC) Core Values. This position responds to emergency, disaster, or weather situations with flexibility of little or no advanced notice

Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

## Qualifications

**EDUCATION**

  • High School Diploma; college degree preferred

**EXPERIENCE**

  • Two years of supervisory experience in a blood banking industry with an emphasis on component production; or five years in a supervisory position in a government-regulated production environment; or an equivalent combination of comparable education and experience. Three years of experience in a front-line blood production capacity, preferred
  • Six months experience in blood banking, regulated production, or regulated laboratory required
  • Completion of CBC’s Essentials of Supervision, preferred

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with remarkable customer service, including the ability to adapt to the communication styles of a diverse departmental staff and customers. Ability to communicate departmental needs and expectations
  • Ability to utilize supervisory skills to assess and react to situational and performance issues (e.g., planning, coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, motivating, delegating)
  • Strong technical aptitude for accurate, detailed, and complete documentation (e.g., electronic, manual); Ability to apply industry regulations pertaining to inventory, storage, validation, distribution, production, and labeling
  • Strong working knowledge and use of common office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, complex problem-solving, and critical analysis skills, required
  • Effective team building skills (e.g., conflict management, resolution)
  • Ability to make and act on critical decisions in unusual or stressful situations, with little or no direct supervision or guidance
  • Ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence while supervising individuals of various skill levels; Actively participates in personal development courses
