About The Role
## Description
- Assist patients in a high-volume area while providing excellent customer service, to ensure the patient and their family have excellent experience.
- Primarily responsible for gathering accurate information on the patient encounter for the purpose of registration in a timely and efficient manner. Ensuring all documents are completed prior to the patient transferring to the appropriate departments.
- Register all patients in accordance with DNV, HIPAA, federal and state regulatory agencies, organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Acknowledge all patients promptly and professionally when they arrive at the admissions desk.
- Displays consistent ability to prioritize and complete registrations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Uses patient identifiers to verify and pull up patients in EHR: date of birth and patient name, as well as last four digits of Social Security number.
- Obtains and inputs complete and accurate patient demographic information which includes verification of existing information regarding personal and employer information.
- Enters all required information related to an accident when appropriate.
- Obtains and enters correct insurance information when applicable in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Verify patient identity by confirming patient’s name and date of birth, initial armband, prior to placing arm band on each patient.
- Gathers information needed from Medicare patients to complete MSPQ correctly.
## Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training; preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic typing skills, proper phone etiquette, and computer software.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
- Completion of a medical terminology course and familiarity with insurance company reimbursement, co-pays and deductibles preferred
