About The Role
## Description
Responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor in planning, preparing, implementing, and supervising activities for the children at the site. Program locations are based in Monmouth County elementary schools, including Matawan, Marlboro, Freehold, Manalapan, Colts Neck, Atlantic Highlands, Red Bank, Shrewsbury, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, West Long Branch, Spring Lake, and Fair Haven. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Site Supervisor will assume all duties of the Site Supervisor. She/he is also responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor with the site environment, communicating with parents and students, supervising staff and students. Provides a safe and quality experience to children, members and staff focused on our YMCA core values of caring, honesty, inclusion, respect, and responsibility.
- Is responsible for the health and safety of the children in our program at all times.
- Ensures that the children are released only to the custodial parent/guardian or person authorized by the custodial parent/guardian.
- Ensures that children are signed-in/signed-out properly on a daily basis.
- Assists Site Supervisor in preparation and implementation of all activities.
- Creates a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Meets the individual and group needs of the children.
- Supervises children during play as well as during quiet homework time.
- Understands and implements emergency procedures of your site. Is familiar with resources such as emergency cards, medical forms and allergy lists.
- Behaves as a role model demonstrating YMCA philosophy and values.
- Supervises proper clean-up by ensuring that games/toys put away, tables are washed and disinfected.
- Maintains punctuality, good attendance and appropriate attire.
- Addresses all parental and behavioral concerns with the Site Supervisor/Director.
## Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year experience working with school-age children
- Must have a warm and friendly personality
- Must be sensitive toward the feelings and needs of others
- Must be able to relate well to young children
- Must be mature, responsible and organized
- CPR, 1st Aid, Epi-pen, & AED certified, or acquire within 3 months.
