As a **Fitness & Aquatics Instructor**, you will be a vital part of a mission-driven team dedicated to helping residents safely enjoy Wellness Center programs that enrich body, mind, and spirit. Support the development of fitness programs, wellness education, and engaging events, while overseeing the daily operations of the center. Work one-on-one with members, create personalized exercise plans, assist with fitness evaluations, and adapt programs to help residents thrive at every level of wellness.
Your responsibilities will include
- **Supervise Wellness Facilities:** Provide attentive supervision and support to residents and employees using the pool, spa, and fitness room to ensure safety and proper use of equipment.
- **Instruct Safe Exercise Techniques:** Educate participants on correct exercise form and safety practices to promote effectiveness and prevent injury.
- **Design Individualized Fitness Programs:** Create customized training plans tailored to each participant’s interests, abilities, and wellness goals for one-on-one sessions.
- **Lead Group Exercise Classes:** Develop and implement dynamic group fitness sessions on land and in the pool, using a variety of exercise modalities.
- **Coordinate Fitness Appointments:** Schedule and conduct functional fitness evaluations, first workouts, and orientations; ensure all paperwork is filed properly.
- **Conduct Fitness Assessments:** Perform health and fitness testing, interpret results, and provide clear, personalized feedback to participants.
- **Research & Educate:** Stay current on health and fitness trends; source and distribute relevant educational materials to enhance participant knowledge.
- **Host Wellness Presentations:** Deliver engaging health education seminars and promote healthy lifestyles through interactive programming.
- **Create Wellness Communications:** Design and maintain bulletin boards, newsletters, and other promotional materials to communicate programs and encourage participation.
- **Support Employee Wellness:** Assist in planning and executing employee wellness activities that foster a culture of health and well-being.
- **Maintain Facility Cleanliness & Safety:** Contribute to the daily upkeep of the pool, spa, and fitness areas; report any safety hazards or equipment issues promptly.
- **Respond to Emergencies:** Follow the Emergency Action Plan when needed, ensuring thorough documentation and immediate reporting of incidents or accidents.
- **Perform Additional Duties as Assigned:** Support departmental and organizational success by assisting with other responsibilities as needed.
## Qualifications
***What You Bring to the Table***
- Personal Training and/or Group Fitness Instructor Certification
- Current Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification in good standing, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Current CPR(PR) Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification in good standing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with older adults preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills; creative and innovative thinking
- Experience in health promotion, wellness, or a related field; experience as a fitness instructor preferred
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
