## Description
**SUMMARY**
This position is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising inpatient/outpatient/emergency room registrations and completion of documents and processes, as well as switchboard operations. Monitoring the daily hospital census of admissions and discharges.

**DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES** (include but are not limited to the following)
- Interview, hire, schedule, orient, evaluate, counsel and terminate employees of the department.
- Responsible for time sheet authentication.
- Establish, implement and ensure that Patient Access departments policies, procedures and practices are in accordance with regulatory agencies and overall hospital policies as applicable.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to inform staff of changes in procedures, training, and general hospital updates.
- Resolve complaints regarding Patient Access in a timely manner using good judgment and good customer relations skills.
## Qualifications
**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum (2) years of prior supervisory experience in inpatient/outpatient/emergency room Patient Access setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Knowledge of the legal and technical aspects of admitting, third party insurance, and scope of responsibility in treating indigent patients.
**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Must be proficient with computer applications necessary for effective management of all Patient Access processes.
