About The Role

## Description
A **Lot Porter/Driver**at Great Lakes Truck Center handles basic shop support, vehicle movement, and facility upkeep in a heavy-duty truck service environment.
**Core Responsibilities**

  • Moving trucks around the yard and service bays
  • Assisting technicians by staging vehicles, parts, and tools
  • Performing basic maintenance tasks (checking fluids, tire pressure, battery condition)
  • Washing and cleaning trucks, shop areas, and equipment
  • Keeping the garage, lot, and workspaces organized and safe
  • Helping with pickup and delivery of vehicles when needed

**Skills & Requirements**

  • Valid driver’s license- CDL Required
  • Ability to operate heavy-duty trucks safely
  • Basic mechanical awareness (not full technician level)
  • Physical stamina (lifting, standing, working outdoors in varying weather)
  • Attention to safety procedures and shop protocols

## Qualifications

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle maintenance or a related field.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Proficiency in using computer-based diagnostic tools and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects when necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
