About The Role
## Description
**American Academy (AA) is accepting resumes for a full-time Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)** to support student success across our campuses for the 2026-27 school year. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist and in collaboration with the Student Support Services (SSS) team to provide high-quality, research-based interventions that support students with communication and articulation needs. This role directly contributes to American Academy’s mission by fostering student growth through targeted support, professionalism, and collaboration.
**Responsibilities**
- Adhere to the mission, philosophy, and core values of American Academy with professionalism and integrity.
- Implement research-based speech and language interventions in accordance with treatment plans and protocols developed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Support student success by providing culturally and developmentally appropriate learning activities aligned with individual student needs.
- Assist the supervising SLP with student assessments, excluding test administration and interpretation.
- Document student performance data and progress, including maintaining charts, records, and graphs, and report findings to the supervising SLP.
- Provide interventions and accommodations for students with a variety of communication, language, and articulation disorders.
- Create a positive and structured learning environment that supports American Academy’s Core Knowledge and STEM curriculum and promotes positive student behavior.
- Communicate clear expectations for student learning and behavior.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of student data, communication, schedules, and progress.
- Collaborate effectively with the supervising SLP, Student Support Services team, classroom teachers, administrators, and other support professionals.
- Participate actively in the supervisory process and respond constructively to feedback.
- Manage time efficiently to fulfill responsibilities including direct student services, screenings, meetings, documentation, and collaboration.
- Assist with clerical and departmental duties such as preparing materials, scheduling activities, and maintaining supplies and equipment as directed by the supervising SLP.
- Demonstrate initiative in supporting departmental goals and contributing to a positive school culture.
- Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with students, families, colleagues, and administration.
- Adhere to American Academy’s Employee Code of Conduct, Student Code of Conduct, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws and policies, including ASHA Scope of Practice guidelines.
- **Qualifications**
- **Requirements:**
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies or a related field
- Current Colorado SLPA registration or ability to obtain
- Knowledge of ASHA Scope of Practice for Speech Language Pathologist Assistants
**Preferred Experience:**
- Experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting
- Experience implementing research-based speech and language interventions
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning
