## Description

**This is a full-time position and receives all benefits afforded to regular employees. This position requires working 40 hours per week.**

Summary: This position performs technical duties in the provision of care to shelter animals in the kennels.

**Essential Functions of the Job:** The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. This classification is part of the broad-band compensation plan. Duties listed may not be performed by all incumbents, and the level may be assigned based on each incumbent's skills and proficiencies.

  • Feeds, waters, and cares for animals; ensures that animals are kept in clean and humane conditions; monitors animals for signs of illness or distress.
  • Cleans kennels, cages, and equipment using disinfectants and sanitizing agents; performs laundry duties; disposes of animal waste.
  • Assists with the intake and release of animals; processes adoption paperwork; provides information and assistance to the public.
  • Administers medications to animals as directed; assists with vaccinations, micro-chipping, and other treatments under supervision.
  • Observes and reports animal behavior; maintains health, feed, and activity logs.
  • Assists with euthanasia processes and disposes of carcasses as needed.
  • Interacts with potentially dangerous animals in a kennel setting.
  • Provides training and guidance to volunteers.

## Qualifications & Benefits

**Qualifications**: High School Diploma or GED.

**Required Certificates/Licenses:** Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
