PT Adjunct Biology

**Job Summary**

The adjunct instructor will teach a combination of Biology lecture and/or lab courses, develop instructional and assessment materials, and support student learning through effective classroom and laboratory instruction.

**Essential Functions**

• Communicate course objectives, learning outcomes, expectations, and policies to students through the course syllabus and other instructional materials.
• Provide effective instruction in assigned biology courses and support student success through appropriate teaching and assessment.
• Collaborate with the Biology Chair on curriculum, assessment, scheduling, student concerns, and other departmental initiatives to support student success and program effectiveness.
• Ensure safety requirements are followed in the classroom and laboratory.
• Respond to student questions and concerns during class, office hours, and through timely electronic communication
• Use the Learning Management System (LMS) appropriately to support instruction, student learning, and course communication.
• Maintain academic records in accordance with college policies, accreditation requirements, and applicable laws.
• Stay current with developments, trends, and best practices in the field of biology.
• Participate in student learning outcomes assessment and program evaluation activities as required by the department and the College.
• Recommend textbooks and instructional materials that support biology courses.

**Physical Demands**

• Ability to lift or move lab equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
• Use of manual dexterity
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Classroom, lab and office setting

## Qualifications
**Required Qualifications**

• Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Biology or related biological field for lecture
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, or related biological field for lab
• General classroom instruction and experience working with lab equipment
• Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

**Preferred Qualifications**

• College teaching experience
• Lab experience
