Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for performing accurate and quality diagnostic echocardiography exams for inpatient and outpatient populations. Operates ultrasound equipment and applies knowledge of cardiac disease processes and medical terminology to obtain precise measurements and calculations. Ensures adherence to ICAEL guidelines and maintains high standards of data acquisition for physician interpretation. Demonstrates strong computer and customer service skills to support patient care. Collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver timely and effective diagnostic information.

Essential Functions

  • Selects and sets up appropriate equipment for procedures.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures according to ICAEL guidelines.
  • Obtains and verifies accurate patient information and data.
  • Optimizes images using appropriate settings and evaluates image quality.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and reports equipment issues as needed.
  • Provides data and preliminary reports for physician interpretation.
  • Explains procedures to patients and evaluates their understanding.
  • Maintains confidentiality and treats all patients and staff with respect.
  • Completes and enters all required documentation and billing information accurately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent and Graduate of a JRCERT accredited program

Experience Requirement

  • 0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
  • Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
  • Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Certifications & Licensures

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
