About The Role
## Description
### Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and fully functional YMCA facility. This role supports a welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative care in accordance with YMCA standards and safety guidelines.
### Essential Functions
- Light housekeeping when needed; including cleanliness and overall appearance of the facility-- fitness areas, locker rooms, offices, classrooms, and common spaces.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and regular inspections to ensure equipment and building systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Monitor inventory of maintenance and janitorial supplies; report needs to supervisor.
- Support emergency procedures and respond to urgent facility issues when needed.

## Qualifications
### Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, or related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of building systems, tools, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- CPR, First Aid, and other YMCA-required certifications (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
### Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely.
### Work Schedule
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
### Work Environment
The position operates in a recreational facility environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, mechanical equipment, and varying noise levels.
