Job Description

Join the SOS Temporary Program as a Help Desk Specialist and support the Nebraska Department of Education. This is a temporary assignment expected to last two months from start date.

  • Communicates with customers to ensure issues have been resolved or if any follow up is necessary.
  • Organizes tickets, such as combining multiple tickets from same customer or prioritizing.
  • Assists with basic issues such as password assistance, basic printer troubleshooting, and peripheral connections, MFA setups, VPN connections.
  • Schedules support calls between Infrastructure Support Analysts and customers.
  • Generates ticket reports and summaries.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance and works in a variety of settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of post high school coursework or vocational/technical training in computer science, data processing operations, information technology, management information systems, network/ telecommunications systems, AND one year of experience either in installing and using software applications or operating data processing systems, or in instructing others in the use of these applications or systems. Equivalent combination of education and experience in the areas described above may substitute for these requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience with Mac and Apple technologies, understanding of MFA/VPN systems and password management.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Technology documentation procedures and practices.
  • English grammar, spelling, and composition needed for correspondence.
  • Computer software and office equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities.

Abilities

  • Research and problem solve basic technology issues.
  • Locate and summarize information from files and documents.
  • Prepare a variety of internal reports and documents.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with agency staff and the public.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of information.
