# **POSITION SUMMARY:** Performs clerical, administrative, and field work duties for the Environmental and Natural Resources department. Assists in preparing and submitting grant documents, and monthly reports.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following
- Assist with completing objectives from the Environmental Protection Agency General Assistance Program grant and submit quarterly reports.
- Assist with developing newsletters and reports to the General Council and Tribal Council.
- Attend trainings in various parts of the country, as requested, relative to the position responsibilities.
- Assist with developing grant proposals to various Federal, State, Local Agencies and Foundations.
- Assist with environmental projects.
- Assist updating all of the environmental ordinances
- Review and research environmental documents.
- Assist with environmental projects.
- Assist with creating and keeping track of the department’s purchase orders and invoices
- Assist with keeping track of the department’s official inventory
- In the absence of the director, the position assumes supervisor duties for the Environmental and Natural Resources department.
- Other duties may be assigned
**AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**: In the absence of the Director, this position will assume supervisor duties for the Environmental and Natural Resources Department.
**QUALIFICATIONS**: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs preferred.
- Proficient with procurement software preferred.
- Proficient with applicable typing, spelling, grammar, and punctuation preferred.
- Strong self-motivation
- Ability to produce formal documents.
- Must be willing to work with a variety of people.
- Must be flexible and willing to take direction.
**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have High School diploma or GED
- Must have at least an Associate’s Degree in Environmental and Natural Resources.
- OR; equivalent combination of education and experience (Equivalent = two (2) year’s direct related experience to one (1) year of education.
- Must have 2_ /years of related experience in the environmental field
- Must have 1_/years of experience with grants.
- Must have 1_/years of supervisory experience.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
- Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.
- Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certificate within three (3) months of hire.
- ICS 100, 200, obtain within three (3) months of hire.
**COMPUTER OPERATIONS**
- Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
**LANGUAGE SKILLS**
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to write efficiently, with little grammar or spelling errors.
**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to keep track of monetary factors, such as the department’s budget, grant budgets, and purchases/ orders.
- Ability to use spreadsheets in an efficient manner, using equations and formulas throughout spreadsheets.
