**POSITION SUMMARY:** Youth Services Worker is responsible for supporting the Bear River Youth Program.

The Youth Development Worker must be passionate about working with youth, a self-starter with high energy, be able to work effectively in a team, and able to multi-task and dependable.

**E****S****S****E****NTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following

  • Responsible for coordinating (in conjunction with supervisor) and supervising cultural, recreational, and educational activities for the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria’s youth, including supervising the program participants in locations throughout the community.
  • Meet for individual and team supervision and effectively collaborate with Education and other departments as it relates to youth activities.
  • Exemplify adult behavior as a role model and mentor to youth and work to enhance youth’s sense of personal and cultural identity;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality requirements and standards;
  • Maintain professional behavior at all times;
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

**AUTHORITY/S****UPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**: Shall oversee youth participants in the program.

**Q****U****A****LIFICATIONS**: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have good references detailing successful experience working with youth.
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability, self-control, patience, adaptability, and tact, without being judgmental.
  • Must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate good judgment in moral, ethical, cultural, and spiritual matters.
  • Must have a strong understanding of issues facing Native youth and able to support youth in navigating challenges and referring to other departments as necessary.

**E****DUCATION/EXPERIENCE**

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must have High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have related experience working with youth.

**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**

  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Must provide or obtain the Servsafe Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment.
  • Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
  • Must pass a pre-employment TB Test, Annual TB risk assessment and symptom review required for ongoing employment.
  • Must have valid Mandated Reporter Training Certification within three (3) months of hire.
