At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, we know that exceptional hospice care extends beyond the bedside. Our Patient Accounting team plays a vital role in ensuring patients and families receive accurate, timely billing services while supporting the financial health of our Hospice program. We're seeking a detail-oriented **Hospice Collector/Biller I** to help manage hospice billing, payment posting, collections, and accounts receivable while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
### **In This Role, You Will:**
- Prepare, review, and submit hospice claims to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance carriers, and private payers.
- Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments while ensuring payment accuracy and integrity.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid, denied, rejected, or underpaid claims.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment variances, and credit balances.
- Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals as needed.
- Respond professionally to patient and payer billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with Hospice leadership and Revenue Cycle departments to resolve billing and reimbursement issues.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare Hospice regulations, CMS requirements, HIPAA, and payer guidelines.
- Support month-end reconciliation, audits, reporting, and other Revenue Cycle initiatives.
### **What We're Looking For:**
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.
- Hospice billing experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims processing, ICD-10 and CPT coding principles.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
