The Jamestown Family Health Clinic is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) to join our collaborative healthcare team. In this role, you'll provide exceptional patient care while working alongside physicians, ARNPs, PA-Cs, and other licensed healthcare providers in a patient-centered primary care setting.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
What You'll Do
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will
- Provide services consistent with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Occupational Analysis and skill sets.
- Room patients and obtain/document vital signs, patient history (when appropriate), and chief complaints according to provider direction and clinic protocols.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records, including scanning, recording, and updating patient information.
- Process provider orders, prescription refill requests, medication and procedure prior authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Record patient charges for electronic billing as needed.
- Assist providers with patient education and follow-up care instructions.
- Communicate laboratory and radiology results as directed by the provider.
- Prepare patients for laboratory and radiology procedures.
- Schedule diagnostic testing and specialty referrals.
- Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, perform procedures including:
- EKGs
- Ear lavages
- CLIA-waived laboratory testing
- Venipuncture
- Wound dressings
- Administer IM, Sub-Q, nasal medications, and immunizations as ordered.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to urgent or emergent situations following clinic protocols.
- Perform basic patient triage according to office protocols.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with providers, staff, leadership, and external agencies.
- Participate in staff and clinic meetings.
- Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and patient confidentiality.
- Follow all JST and JFHC policies and procedures, including safety standards, HIPAA requirements, and the Occupational Exposure Control Plan.
- Document work processes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a 1-2 year (4-6 quarter) accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
- CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assisting Program or LPN Program preferred.
- Current Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential.
- Current Basic First Aid/CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
- Knowledge of:
- Medication administration procedures
- CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Medical terminology
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using EPIC electronic health records.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong time management, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- American Indian/Alaska Native hiring preference applies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to hear adequately for stethoscope and telephone use.
- Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, squat, twist, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Must be available to work any shift, including weekends or holidays, if operational needs require.
