POSITION SUMMARY
- The Assistant Manager is responsible for directing all functional activities of the club including,
- membership sales, general administration, customer service, scheduling, cash management and
- general operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Operations
- Serves as the primary contact for the General Manager regarding all club issues.
- Handles member issues while maintaining quality control.
- Sets up, develops, maintains and documents all club processes, procedures and guidelines.
- In coordination with the Human Resources Specialist, develops and maintains effective club
- operations through the selection, training, motivation, termination and review of all current
- and prospective club personnel.
- Consistently maintains a program for sound employee relations at all levels of the club.
- Oversees and directs the work activities for Shift Leaders and Member Services
- Representatives.
- Effectively addresses and solves problems that arise relating to members, employees, or
- operations.
- Oversees the proper protocol to resolve all member billing related issues.
- Manages all employee scheduling including employee availability, time-off requests and
- determining appropriate staffing levels.
- Performs and oversees all credit card management functions of the club.
- Monitors and manages all member surveys, complaints, compliments and other issues on
- Shift Notes in a timely manner.
- Ensures club maintenance, equipment and general repairs are identified immediately and
- addressed in a timely manner.
- Oversees and regularly audits club cleanliness to ensure that cleaning is completed
- appropriately on a daily basis.
- Manages the club member training program.

Human Resources
- Conducts human resources activities in coordination with the Human Resources Specialist.
- Develops and facilitates job-related training to new employees.
- Holds employees accountable to work rules and safety procedures.
- Effectively selects, interviews and approves new club subordinate employees.
- Trains subordinate employees in job function, expectations and orients them to the
- facility.
- Manages employee performance and behavior to ensure that company expectations are
- being met.
- In coordination with the Human Resources Specialist, documents all disciplinary meetings
- and corrective action using the CorpStrat system.
- Communicates requests and justification for employee terminations to the Human Resources
- Specialist.
- Observes staff regularly throughout the day and provide feedback to facilitate staff growth
- and development.
Equipment Maintenance
- Reviews emailed Shift Notes and identifies necessary repairs and maintenance needed.
- Prints emailed Shift Notes and places them in the Shift Notes Binder.
- Inspects equipment identified in Shift Notes and performs necessary maintenance to ensure
operational effectiveness.
- Orders and receives all equipment parts as needed.
- Oversees or completes all necessary repairs as needed.
- Coordinates maintenance needs with approved outside vendors as needed.
- Records all processed orders with outside vendors.
- Inspects fitness equipment periodically to determine if parts are wearing down.
- Cleans fitness equipment.
- Disassembles fitness equipment and correctly reassembles equipment as needed for
cleaning, repairs and maintenance.
- Addresses member and coworker complaints regarding equipment operation.
- Conducts weekly inspections of tanning beds and hydro-message equipment and performs
cleaning and maintenance as needed.
- Performs annual maintenance of hydro-massage equipment.
- Performs periodic inspections of common areas such as restrooms, faucets, etc. and repairs
as needed.
- Tracks warranty repairs made on fitness equipment.
- Reports to club manager for any possible repairs or concerns she/he has.
- Submits report of equipment maintenance to management weekly and closes the repair in
the Life Fitness portal
- Submits hours worked on spreadsheet to identify “planned effort time.”
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2-years of experience at a Planet Fitness facility.
- Moderate knowledge in the use of computer technology.
- Experience with budget analysis.
