**Job Title:**Assistant Team Lead

**POSITION SUMMARY**

The Assistant Team Lead supports the Team Lead in overseeing nightly janitorial operations and ensuring cleaning services are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and client standards. This is a hands-on working position that assists with team coordination, training, quality inspections, and daily operational tasks while serving as a resource for team members throughout the shift.

The Assistant Team Lead helps maintain a safe and productive work environment and may assume Team Lead responsibilities in their absence.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

While the following list encompasses the primary duties and responsibilities of the role, the incumbent is also expected to perform other duties as assigned.

**Team Support & Leadership**

  • Assist the Team Lead with coordinating nightly sanitation crews.
  • Lead by example by working alongside team members and completing cleaning tasks.
  • Support the Team Lead in assigning daily work and monitoring task completion.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to team members throughout the shift.
  • Communicate operational concerns to the Team Lead or next level manager.
  • Assist with monitoring attendance and timekeeping and report concerns to the Team Lead.

**Training & Employee Development**

  • Assist with training new employees on proper cleaning procedures and equipment.
  • Reinforce company policies, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Provide coaching and support to help team members improve performance.
  • Encourage teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.

**Cleaning Operations & Quality Assurance**

  • Perform janitorial duties while helping ensure work is completed according to company and client standards.
  • Assist the Team Lead with inspecting completed work for quality and completeness.
  • Participate in store walkthroughs with management as assigned.
  • Assist with completing operational checklists and required documentation.
  • Report operational issues, equipment concerns, or client requests to the Team Lead.

**Safety & Compliance**

  • Promote and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ensure emergency exits and eyewash stations remain accessible.
  • Assist with proper handling, storage, and securing of equipment and propane tanks.
  • Verify cleaning equipment is drained, cleaned, charged, and ready for the next shift.

**Equipment & Facility Management**

  • Ensure cleaning tools and supplies are properly stored after each shift.
  • Return propane tanks to designated storage areas and ensure they are secured.
  • Help maintain organized janitorial closets and storage areas.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Team Lead.

**Reporting & Communication**

  • Assist with completing daily operational reports and checklists.
  • Communicate shift updates and operational concerns to the Team Lead.
  • Document incidents, equipment issues, and completed inspections as required.
  • Support communication between team members and management.

**KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)**

  • Cleaning assignments completed according to quality standards
  • Tools and equipment properly stored
  • Equipment cleaned and prepared for the next shift
  • Propane tanks secured properly
  • Daily checklists completed accurately
  • Safety procedures consistently followed
  • Positive teamwork and communication

## Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience required.
  • Prior leadership, trainer, or lead experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team while leading by example.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work night shifts and travel to assigned store locations as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT**

  • Continually required to stand, walk, bend, stoop and kneel
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 + pounds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the mobile smart phone and e-mail for communication is essential.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts/pallet jacks as needed.
  • The job may be performed in a warehouse environment or retail/grocery environment. is performed in a distribution warehouse
  • Must be willing to work different shifts when the business need arises.
