# **Behavioral Support Technician | Crisis Services**
**Part-Time | Starting at $23.00 per hour**

This is a hands-on role supporting individuals who may experience behavioral escalations or difficulty with communication and emotional regulation. You will work alongside another trained team member in a **2:1 staff-to-client ratio**, providing consistent support as part of a coordinated team.
## **What You’ll Do**
- Support individuals with daily living skills such as hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and shopping
- Teach and reinforce communication, coping, and independent-living skills
- Use verbal de-escalation and redirection during challenging situations
- Follow individualized behavior-support and crisis-prevention plans
- Observe and document relevant behaviors and progress
- Support individuals during community activities and appointments
- Work closely with another staff member to maintain a safe and supportive environment
- Respond calmly and professionally when behavioral escalations occur
## **Schedule, Location and Pay**
- **Starting pay:** $23.00 per hour
- **Employment type:** Part-time
- **Schedule:** Flexible, based on availability and program needs
- **Weekend availability:** Required to be considered
- **Location:** Springfield, MO
- **Initial training:** Weekday and daytime availability is required during the first two weeks of employment
Experience-based pay may be available for candidates with directly related experience.
## **Paid Training and Support**
Previous experience is not required. The Arc provides paid training to help you develop the skills needed to support individuals safely and confidently.
Training may include
- CPR and First Aid
- MANDT verbal and physical de-escalation
- Level One Medication Aide training
- Paraclete and organization-specific service training
- Individual behavior-support and safety procedures
You will also work within a **2:1 staffing model**, meaning two staff members are assigned to support one client. You will have another team member with you while providing direct support.
## **Required Qualifications**
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Weekend availability
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle and current auto insurance
- Ability to obtain a Missouri Class E driver’s license
- Ability to complete required paid training
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow written support plans
- Ability to remain calm during behavioral escalations
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
## **Preferred Qualifications**
Experience is helpful but not required. Preferred backgrounds include
- Developmental-disability or autism services
- Behavioral or mental-health support
- Direct support or caregiving
- Residential services
- Special education
- Applied behavior analysis
- Healthcare or human services
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation
