**Medical Director (Part-Time)**

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for our OASAS Certified 820 Program (20 bed) and OASAS Licensed Article 32 Outpatient Clinic. This part-time position requires a combined commitment of up to 12 hours per week and offers a flexible schedule, including the opportunity to perform a portion of the required hours remotely through telehealth. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who is passionate about advancing high-quality addiction treatment while maintaining a flexible work-life balance.

**Please note that this is a part-time contract consulting position and is not a full-time employee role.**

****RESPONSIBILITIES:****

  • **Medical Director – OASAS 820 Residential and Article 32 Outpatient Program**

**Responsibilities**

  • Complete medical clearances for all new admissions to the Article 32 Outpatient Program to determine medical appropriateness for treatment.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations for all admissions to the OASAS 820 Residential Treatment Program in accordance with OASAS regulations and agency policy.
  • Provide ongoing medical assessment, monitoring, and management for clients in OASAS residential treatment, including those experiencing mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms.
  • Evaluate, prescribe, and manage Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT), including Ancillary Withdrawal Management, as clinically indicated.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of client medical charts and Medication Administration Records (MARs) to ensure safe medication practices, regulatory compliance, and quality of care.
  • Educate clients regarding their medical conditions, substance use disorders, prescribed medications, treatment options, and recovery goals.
  • Support clients in developing the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to promote recovery, improve treatment adherence, and reduce the risk of relapse.
  • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and support to nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and be available for consultation regarding urgent clinical situations, including limited after-hours calls when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the treating Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP), nursing staff, counselors, and community healthcare providers to ensure coordinated, integrated, and comprehensive client care.
  • Complete all required medical documentation, assessments, treatment orders, and regulatory paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation within the agency's Electronic Health Record (EHR)/Electronic Case Record System and electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) platform.
  • Ensure medical services are provided in compliance with OASAS regulations, Article 32 requirements, applicable federal and New York State laws, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilization review, medical staff meetings, and program development activities as assigned.
  • Serve as the medical resource for the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing consultation on medical and addiction-related issues to support optimal client outcomes

## Qualifications
****KNOWLEDGE:****

  • Position requires a valid NYS Medical License and must be Board Certified with a Data 2000 Waiver
  • Board Certification in Addiction Medicine preferred
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) software and E-Prescribe
  • Position requires on-call hours with flexible onsite hours
  • Previous experience in a chemical dependency treatment environment preferred
  • Clinical and managerial skills needed
  • Need to establish workload priorities and balance diverse projects
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions is needed

In addition, the Medical Director shall perform any duties as required to meet the needs of the program and the clients we serve.
