**About the Urgent Care Program**

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of it's kind in the Kansas City area that provides the community immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the client's and community's needs.

**What You’ll Do**

  • Provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises through in-person and telephone interactions in an outpatient urgent care setting.
  • Engage clients during and following crisis visits to promote stabilization, encourage treatment participation, and support successful transition to ongoing behavioral health services.
  • Build trusting relationships with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches to foster engagement.
  • Assist clients in identifying and reducing barriers to care by connecting them with community resources, including housing, transportation, financial assistance, healthcare, employment, and other supportive services.
  • Coordinate follow-up care and assist with transportation to appointments and community resources, using your personal vehicle as needed in accordance with client service plans.
  • Document client interactions, referrals, progress, and services accurately and timely within the Carelogic electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, nurses, prescribers, peer support specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality crisis and follow-up care.
  • Monitor client progress following crisis intervention, provide ongoing encouragement and support, and communicate changes in client needs to the treatment team to promote safety and continuity of care.

**Requirements of the Position**

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or four (4) years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and a reliable, registered vehicle available for work use, including transporting clients.
  • Two (2)+ years of experience in a substance use, behavioral health, or related setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and health/social service systems in the Kansas City metro area preferred.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and engage clients in a recovery-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.

**Schedule Requirements**

  • Full-time position, consisting of three (3) 12-hour shifts each week, plus one (1) 8-hour shift every other week.
  • Urgent Care operates seven (7) days per week; candidates must be available to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
