## Dentist Position Details
**Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Dentist position at our Houma West location in Houma, LA.**
Teche Action Board dba Teche Health is currently seeking a full-time Dentist for an opportunity located in Houma, LA. This opportunity will involve working a multi-chair clinic. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated, hard-working and flexible, must be able to multi-task, have a great attitude, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and must be a rapid learner. Ideal candidates will have a passion for serving the underserved, and be able to work as a team player in building a strong practice.
**Job Purpose:**
The Dentist at Teche Health is responsible for providing high-quality dental care and services to patients. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and advising on various dental issues to ensure optimal oral health. The Dentist will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive dental care and education to the community.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct thorough examinations of patients' teeth and oral health.
- Diagnose dental conditions and create effective treatment plans.
- Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and crowns.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote dental health awareness.
- Provide emergency dental care as needed.
**Qualifications**
- DDS or DMD required
- Licensed to practice in the State of Louisiana and in good standing
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records - Dentrix
- Possess strong oral surgery experience.
- Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform expanded duties functions, when needed.
- Perform daily procedures including extractions, restorations, and cleanings.
- Educate patients on oral health.
- Complete comprehensive exams and diagnose dental conditions.
- Assess treatment planning options and discuss these with patients.
- Carry out agreed clinical treatments.
- Keep abreast of new developments in dentistry through structured continuing professional developments.
**\*\*Due to CMS Mandate all applicants must be fully vaccinated prior to onboarding with Teche Health with the exception of an approved Medical or Religious Exemption.\*\***
## Qualifications
Required Education
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Active state dental license in good standing.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a licensed dentist.
- Experience in providing comprehensive dental care, including preventive, restorative, and cosmetic procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic dental records and practice management software.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong diagnostic skills to identify dental conditions and formulate effective treatment plans.
- Excellent manual dexterity for performing precise dental procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff, ensuring clear understanding of treatment plans and procedures.
- Commitment to continuing education and staying updated with the latest advancements in dental technology and practices.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for patients.
