## Dentist Position Details

**Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Dentist position at our Houma West location in Houma, LA.**

Teche Action Board dba Teche Health is currently seeking a full-time Dentist for an opportunity located in Houma, LA. This opportunity will involve working a multi-chair clinic. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated, hard-working and flexible, must be able to multi-task, have a great attitude, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and must be a rapid learner. Ideal candidates will have a passion for serving the underserved, and be able to work as a team player in building a strong practice.

**Job Purpose:**

The Dentist at Teche Health is responsible for providing high-quality dental care and services to patients. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and advising on various dental issues to ensure optimal oral health. The Dentist will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive dental care and education to the community.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Conduct thorough examinations of patients' teeth and oral health.
• Diagnose dental conditions and create effective treatment plans.
• Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and crowns.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote dental health awareness.
• Provide emergency dental care as needed.

**Qualifications**

• DDS or DMD required
• Licensed to practice in the State of Louisiana and in good standing
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records - Dentrix
• Possess strong oral surgery experience.
• Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform expanded duties functions, when needed.
• Perform daily procedures including extractions, restorations, and cleanings.
• Educate patients on oral health.
• Complete comprehensive exams and diagnose dental conditions.
• Assess treatment planning options and discuss these with patients.
• Carry out agreed clinical treatments.
• Keep abreast of new developments in dentistry through structured continuing professional developments.

## Qualifications

Required Education

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
• Active state dental license in good standing.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a licensed dentist.
• Experience in providing comprehensive dental care, including preventive, restorative, and cosmetic procedures.
• Familiarity with electronic dental records and practice management software.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong diagnostic skills to identify dental conditions and formulate effective treatment plans.
• Excellent manual dexterity for performing precise dental procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff, ensuring clear understanding of treatment plans and procedures.
